“The study of English from Kindergarten to Year 10 should develop a love of literature and learning and be challenging and enjoyable. It develops skills to enable students to experiment with ideas and expression, to become active, independent and lifelong learners, to work with each other and to reflect on learning.” (English K-10 Syllabus, p.13)
This Key Learning Area of study is informed by the NSW Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum English K–6.
The outcomes in this syllabus describe the knowledge, skills, understandings and strategies that students demonstrate when learning to talk, listen, read, write, think imaginatively and creatively, express themselves and also reflect on their own and others’ learning.
