Yana is the Darkinyung word for walk. And our Kinder Yana School Transition Program is designed to bring your new school community together to walk (learn and talk) in the lead up to starting school. It’s a great opportunity for students and their parents to feel comfortable in the school, by getting to know each other over a series of sessions.
Kinder teachers set up a range of activities to enhance the children’s receptive and expressive language skills; fine and gross motor skills along with social skills. This helps teachers get to know the children and their strengths and challenges, ready for when they begin school. Whilst parents or carers attend workshops on English, Maths, Social and Emotional Learning. The adult sessions are designs to help you understand how we teach today and what can be done to help at home.
We strongly encourage you to attend all sessions so that you and your child feel ready and excited to start school next year.
